“ I stopped in for coffee and gooey butter cake after running errands in Lincoln. It's a beautiful well lit space. The coffee is hot, strong and fresh. The gooey butter cake was the perfect mid morning treat, the corner piece had the right contrast of edge sugary crunch and gooey middle. The staff behind the counter was friendly and welcoming. As I sat and worked, they offered me more coffee and asked if I needed anything else. It was lovely. I'll be back. ”
“ The BEST taco salad! Deep roots is the perfect lunch spot in downtown and it's a local must try! Would like to add that the staff are welcoming, polite, and attentive. ”
“ I enjoy popping in here for lunch on occasion! Always homemade and hot. The chicken salad sandwich is amazing and their soups and desserts are perfect. ”
“ What a great place to eat! I had a bowl of chili and enjoyed it very much. The service was very prompt. The restaurant was clean and inviting. A very nice change of pace for lunch. ”
“ Popped in Friday morning hoping for a quick breakfast grab and go, but left happy with cookies (lemon drop and banana cream - each $1) and also a chubby hubby (peanut butter/chocolate bar) for $3. There were also some great looking homemade desserts to consider for next time. ”
“ We eat lunch here at least once a week. Our go-to is the soup & sandwich combo. For soup, my favorites are the cheesy potato (Tuesdays) and chicken & rice (Fridays). My husband always gets the chili which they have every day. The sandwiches are on delicious homemade bread. I personally don't eat chicken salad but some family members who are chicken salad fans say that theirs is amazing. They also have a wide variety of baked goods. Everything we've tried has been delicious. ”
“ Cute location with lots of seating. The people who work here are sweet and kind and provided excellent service. They had a huge selection of pastries. They are opening back up fully next Monday and will have more selection including quicker and other yummies. ”
“ Wow was the food delicious! The owner and cook had a great way with customers while preparing our lunch right on front of us. My wife and I popped in after church and were wow'd by the food. I had a shrimp Po-Boy with her amazing homemade sauce and my wife had a burger and a side of fried shrimp and loved it. Added cold cans of soda at 65 cents each. Highly recommend this local eatery... DO NOT LET THE STORE FRONT FOOL YOU ”
“ Always a great meal. Fresh food daily. A must go! Ham salad on wheat with lettuce and spicy mustard is my go to sandwich. ”
“ Wow! What can I say about Deep Roots Bakery. I hope y'all like waiting 20 minutes for the cashier to type in your order and then another ten for them to actually make your sandwich/salad/soup. Let's talk about the sandwiches. They are the best thing about this place, and they taste like cardboard between two pieces of parchment paper. Now let's move on the to soup, especially the chili. Imagine f***** up chili, it's almost impossible, but here we have it. You ever have a romantic evening, candles and roses only to end up passed out on the couch with no magical ending, or maybe it's Christmas morning and you just know that big present under the tree is the PlayStation you've been wanting sooo bad only to open it up and it be a knitted sweater....that's what eating this chili is like. They brag about, they rave about it, they'll tell you about the "secret" ingredient and you'll order it and you'll be sorely disappointed. BTW the secret is Brown Sugar and mounds of it. Couldn't tell if I was eating Chili or burnt oatmeal with beans. Now the salad... have you ever chewed water. That's what the salad and all it's ingredients taste like, chewing water. I can't believe this place is still open. Smdh ”
